Management in line with the Paris Agreement

We have reached our first climate goal: all of our fund capital is managed in line with the Paris Agreement. Limiting global warming requires both reduced emissions and increased investments in climate solutions.

The Paris Agreement describes how the world should limit warming to well below 2 degrees, with the ambition of staying at 1.5 degrees. The agreement is primarily aimed at countries, but several articles are also relevant for fund management companies.

We have reviewed the agreement and identified what is relevant for our business. Based on this, we have integrated clear goals into our climate strategy and investment process.

Our method

We have ensured that all our fund capital, all our funds together, follows a development in line with the Paris Agreement. We were among the first to classify individual funds as Paris Aligned.

Management in line with the Paris Agreement means that we use our own analysis method to ensure that our funds together:

  • reduces its carbon footprint over time
  • reach net zero emissions* by 2050, at latest
  • track other climate indicators, such as the proportion of companies in the funds that have goals in line with the Paris Agreement
  • invest in companies that can contribute to climate solutions, such as companies that produce renewable energy or energy-efficient buildings

We regularly monitor the performance of our funds.

*By net zero emissions, we mean that greenhouse gas emissions should be as low as possible. The emissions that still remain are managed by measures that remove or bind carbon dioxide.

We not only want to restructure our own fund capital, but also inspire other fund companies to do the same. The financial sector plays an important role in directing capital towards climate solutions and thereby contributing to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement.
